The location of this hotel is perfect. Situated in a quiet historic neighborhood, away from the busy center of George Town, it offers a peaceful and authentic experience. It's just a 5-minute drive from the city center, making it convenient for exploring the area.
All was well, no improvements needed.

There is a bus stop so close to the hotel. The bed was comfy, after a long drive.

Full marks from us, and absolute recommendation. Luckily we were able to transfer to the loft and had the whole first floor for us. A highlight is the bathroom, which is a balcony. The location is a bit away from the George Town hustle and bustle and very quiet, but very pleasant to sleep. With grave one is for 8 MYR in the old town. The apartment was super clean and well maintained.

We loved the comfy bed and spacious room. The hotel's cleanliness is impressive, making us feel comfortable and at ease during our stay. Plus, this beautiful hotel is located in a quiet area, which is perfect for resting after exploring the nearby bus stop and tourist spots.
Absolutely nothing to say about dislikes.

I loved this place as they only have two suites and we booked them both so it was very private. The staff were friendly and helpful without being intrusive and were keen to ensure that we were comfortable. It is beautifully restored and it was fun to stay in an original Penang house. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

The location is superb with local flavour! The room is unique! The stay is totally value for money! A must-try for travellers who wish to be close to the real Penang!
The entrance/reception is on the obscure side and may be difficult to spot. Some signage may help.

This hotel is located in a fantastic neighborhood, close to all the great food places and attractions. the room had an open-air bathroom with curtains and awnings, which gave a unique view of the city. the staff was friendly and provided useful information about the area upon our arrival.
The room was small and lacked modern amenities, making it feel more like a homestay.

The colonial style of the suite with 2 living areas and balcony shows attention to detail and excellently executed. The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable of surrounding area and history. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast superb

The room I stayed in was lovely and furnished in a style that was both comfortable and sympathetic to the history of the building. However, it was the service provided by Jeremy and Kelvyn--the owners which was really outstanding. It went above and beyond expectations and felt really personal distinguishing the Palanquinn from the other options in Penang.
My room was on the ground floor and in front of the road so I could hear the traffic. Personally it didn't bother me as I live in the middle of London but I would recommend asking for the room on the other side or upstairs if this is an issue.

The staff was friendly and attentive, and the room was clean. The location was great because it was close to restaurants and shops. We also liked the fact that we received useful information about the area upon arrival.
The noise level was unbearable, especially during Christmas when everyone was out partying. The walls and windows were thin, so we could hear everything that was happening outside.

We received a warm welcome by Kelvyn and Jeremy and this set the standard for the whole stay. Excellent hosts & amazing breakfasts!. We stayed in the ground floor room which was clean and spacious, with a nice heritage style design and open style bathroom. The 4 poster bed was comfortable. It seems that jeremy and kelvyn have thought of almost everything, providing excellent coffee and tea (every englishman needs this on his travels!), as well as TV with DVD player, a local sim card to call if you need anything, as well as local foodmaps etc. If you like faceless boring hotel rooms, where you could be in Berlin / London or anywhere, then don't stay here. if you want a high class B&B with character, then this is for you.
If you go at Chinese New Year (typically) late Jan / Feb then be ready for some fireworks in the evening, but this is the same for everywhere!

The accommodations were quite comfortable, with beautiful and unique heritage-style design. the location was ideal, within walking distance of notable sites and attractions.
Some amenities were not well-maintained or properly functioning. the air conditioning unit in our room was not effective, and despite our request, it was not resolved.

Size of the rooms, big bathroom
Noise at night, no serious breakfast availability over Chinese New Year (no coffee offered, juices were lemonades only and had to be requested). Room makeup only after request.

I work in a 4* hotel in the Netherlands. But I could definitly learn something from the hospitality from Jeremy and Kelvyn. We had a fantastic stay at Palanquin! The room was fantastic so beautiful and totally in the english style like the rest of the lovely street where the hotel is located. There is a lot to see in the neighbourhood. The central zone of Georgetown is easy to reach by cab or bus.
